Drugs and Behavior

This course entails a detailed survey of the various types of psycho-active drugs that are used and abused in our culture, including legal drugs, such as those used to treat psychiatric disorders, and illegal drugs, including some stimulants, hallucinogens, and opiates. The psycho-active properties and the behavioral consequences of drug use and abuse will be the focus. The societal and cultural influences on drug use/abuse, treatment, prevention, history, laws, and ethics will also be covered in this course.
