Theatre History II: Romantics to Contemporary

This course is a survey of information essential to an understanding of theatre history. It provides a classroom framework that enables the student to come away with a basic backlog of historical and contemporary plays, a deeper and more complete understanding of the development of theatre from the early 19th century to the present. This course will survey world theatre forms, styles, techniques, and traditions, with scholarly research and application in the classroom. Students will also be required to read and analyze plays from different eras and cultures to examine the role of performance in various civilizations. This examination will place the theatre contributions from these periods in historical context.
