Traditional China

This course provides an introduction to Chinese history from the very beginning to 1650. It investigates the major events and trends that contributed to the development of politics, culture, and society of traditional China. Some of the topics that it will cover are origins of China, Confucianism, Daoism, Legalism, Buddhism, and the changing of dynasties and evolution of the imperial system. This course will end up with demonstrating the legacy of traditional China, which is a conclusion of the civilization accumulated under this period. Students must carefully read all assigned books and articles to make themselves well prepared for the class.
