Modern Architecture I: 1750-1900

This course surveys the development of European and American architecture, urbanism and architectural theory from 1750 to 1900. Beginning with the basis of modern architectural theory extending back to the mid-18th century, this course traces the progress of theory and design through the end of the 19th century. The phases of historicism are examined in detail, with added attention to urban planning and technological advances in architecture.
